A piano! If you have an electric keyboard, be sure that it has weighted keys (so your child will be able to play dynamics--softer/louder). Learning to play the piano requires a lot of repetitive practice. The more you practice, the more you will improve.

Here is a link to an informative blog post if you need to buy your first piano.

I have used a variety of piano books in the past. If you already own a method book (i.e. Alfred, Bastien, The Music Tree, Faber, etc), I'd be happy to continue teaching your child from it.

If your child is just beginning, I start off with my own materials and then start them in a method book after a few weeks. I prefer to use the Faber Piano Adventures, beginning with the Lesson Book and the Theory Book.

If you or your child aren't quite ready for private lessons yet, I highly recommend the online piano lessons from Hoffman Academy. Talk to me for more details!
